This thread is intended to be one big continuous thread (topic) on river runs, so that people can subscribe to this thread and be notified of any new river runs.

If you post to a new thread (topic), then subscribers won't get notified, as it is currently impossible to subscribe to all threads in a board.

CB Oct 18th 5:30PM

Postby rcolbeck on Thu Oct 18, 2007 10:45 am

Steve and I are likely heading to CB tonight (Thu) at around 5:30. Levels are very low but I was there last Fri and there is some semi-interesting stuff in the middle, and actually a surfing wave over in the wave train on the Quebec side. Also trying to do the middle attainment above the rocks and wave train in the middle is a good challenge.

I'd like to join recreational day & ½ day paddling trips, 2x weekly June thru Sept.
I'm willing to guide & provide rescue - to those who do not have bomb proof white water rolls.
I'll share your gas and optionally driving. My 1 ton 350 V8 van, currently seats just 2, sucks gas and is best left behind.
I can bring a bicycle, or my thumb to do shuttles.

Anyone want to paddle Hogsback Rapids this Canada Day?

Postby mudman on Sat Jun 28, 2008 10:33 am

I've just spent yesterday paddling the Hogsback Rapids on the Rideau. It was SWEET! I have never seen the Rideau this high, at this time of year. The Back Bacon Hole is in and there's a ledge just below the Heron Road Bridge that developed into a stopper that crosses the river. It looks surfable to me.
I'm in the neighbourhood for a week helping out my folks and would love some company on the river. We're supposed to get more rain this weekend (which is always good with a shallow river like the Rideau) and then it's supposed to clear up for Canada Day. I know it's not the Upper Ottawa, nor is it the White Nile but it is still fun as Hell. Any one care to join me? All are welcome.
e-mail me at mudman6@gmail.com.
P.S. I don't run waterfalls!

Looking for paddling partners.

Postby mudman on Fri Jul 04, 2008 2:20 pm

I've been kayaking for years but I'm attempting to learn playboating. I've taken the summer off to devote myself to the river and I'd like some company. I don't care what age, race, sex or sexuality you are as long as you can paddle, you can roll and you have all the required safety gear.
If you are not into playboating (and I know many of you River Runners aren't) I still have my old kayak and I am just as happy pointing downstream as I am pointing upstream.
Unfortunately I don't drive but I live by the Ottawa River and will paddle to the Deschines or Remics for a session.
I'm available to paddle 24/7 and would love some company. I've paddled solo for too many years. The paddling part's fine but I do hate to swim alone. With age comes fear.
So if you're going out and wouldn't mind my company I'd love to join you. Contact me.
